Release Mokarrameh Ebrahimi and her male co-defendant

We, the undersigned, commend your decision to stop the stoning of Mokarrameh Ebrahimi and her male co-defendant.

Nevertheless, we are disturbed by the fact that your decision is only a temporary measure, and that Mokarrameh Ebrahimi and her male co-defendant are still sentenced to death and risk execution by stoning or another method in the future.

We strongly urge you to commute Mokarrameh Ebrahimi and her co-defendants death sentence and secure their release.
We also have information that indicates that the two mentioned above are not the only people in Iran presently sentenced to death by stoning. Another woman, Kobra Najjar, who is also the mother of four children and allegedly has been forced to prostitution by her husband, is also facing death by stoning after her appeal to the Judiciary Commission for Amnesty and Clemency was rejected for the third time last week. Furthermore we have heard of at least seven other men and women who are sentenced to stoning for having committed adultery.
We urge you to commute all death sentences by stoning, to uphold the moratorium on this punishment and to prepare a law that once and for all prohibits the use of this barbaric method of killing.
