The day “D” and “H” time since Google unveiled a new arsenal of devices among which a new one that heralds the arrival of the big “G” to our home directly taking control of our wireless network-fi. We are talking about Google WiFi.
Google is the new wireless router company of Mountain View but what is the objective and the strengths of this device against the broad competence found in this product range? That is what we will try to discern.
Google’s intention is to not fail us wireless connection at any point in our house, something that can make using an access point or a PLC. The difference is that Google intends to extend the Wi-Fi through the use of a number of plug -in modules.
It is about routers that have a very stylish design. Far away from the black tones of the failed Google Nexus Q this Google WiFi presents a beautiful, minimalist finish with a striking cylindrical shape.
It is for it to install several points Google WiFi with which cover a large enough area (ensure good coverage even in houses of 140 m2). Google WiFi for its operation uses a system called mesh-WiFi signal equally just to the points that need it most.
Each Google WiFi has inside a quad – core CPU, a WiFi dual – band (2.4 GHz / 5 GHz) and two Ethernet and in the case of a set of three of these devices ports, would you need to provide a good connection up to 418 square meters.

These are the basic specifications of Google WiFi…
- Wi-Fi AC1200 2×2 Wave 2
- Quad-core CPU (each up to 710 MHz)
- Wi-Fi mesh technology
- Wi-Fi simultaneous dual-band (2.4GHz / 5GHz) compatible with IEEE 802.11a / b / g / n / ac
- 2 Ethernet router ports. The ports can be configured as WAN or LAN
- Power adapter 15 W, consumes approximately 9 W
An app to control all
To manage Google WiFi will have their own application with which you can configure the router, sharing our password easily control which devices are connected or give priority to a device over another. This is something particularly useful if for example we have a connected computer and want the network has more power in it at any given time against such a console.
Moreover and unlike other current solutions, Google WiFi modules are connected almost automatically and protocol that unites them is high security to prevent intruders on our website. Not that with current solutions interconnect devices is complicated, but Google says its proposal is much simpler.
Price and Availability
Google WiFi can be booked in the United States from November this year at a price of $129. The pack of three routers cost $299.
