Keep your business save

Uncategorized

As the owner of a company, you have a lot of responsibilities on your shoulders. In addition to making sure the company stays profitable, you’ve got to keep a watchful eye on all the moving parts of the company. Another significant factor that plays into your ability to be a great small business leader involves your ability to reinforce rules and keep your employees protected. The national conversation has shifted to one that’s acutely aware of sexual assault in the workplace. With statistics suggesting that one in four women have experienced sexual assault, it’s important to note that any woman in your company has probably faced this reality. In order to make sure this doesn’t happen on your watch, it’s so important to include training on sexual assault, sensitivity, and consequences if it happens at work. There are a few reasons why you’ll want to stay on top of making sure this type of program is taught and enforced by your company.

1. Promotes Safety
When people report to work, they’re coming to do an honest job and earn an honest day’s wage. If anyone is in a position where they feel compromised and can’t do their job because their safety isn’t secured, this promotes a level of fear and anxiety in the workplace. Fear and anxiety due to threats of sexual assault aren’t the emotions you want brewing within a company.

2. Keeps Company Protected
The states with the highest numbers of sexual assault in the workplace don’t require training. There is a direct correlation between sensitivity training and assault incidents. From the vantage point of the owner of a company, this is a perfect way to get sued. Though you might not have seen it happening, if the assault happened on the premises with your employees, the company goes down as well.

3. Accountability & Integrity
It’s important for professionals to maintain a high level of accountability and integrity when dealing with issues as serious as sexual assault. According to Intelius felony data, owners, presidents and managers are a few of the company leaders who are responsible for committing criminal offenses and felonies. In many cases, it’s a matter of using a position of power to be a predator. If other leaders set the tone of integrity and create a no-tolerance environment for bad behavior, it’ll be harder for a predator to survive in a company when they have malicious intent.

4. Longevity
No one builds a company only to have it fail because of a selfish person’s inability to control their fleshly desires. It’s such a slap in the face to all that you’ve built and worked for. If you’d like to experience longevity within the company, work on making sure that your company and employees are protected and safe. This creates an environment where they can do their job to the best of their abilities.
