Last Climber Standing
Everyone knows what it is like at most bouldering gyms. It is generally a low energy environment where people are quietly looking up at the climbing wall with an intense focus. While this creates a unique vibe, it certainly does not create a party atmosphere.
So, how about doing something different? Imagine renting the gym space after-hours. You could dim the harsh fluorescent lighting, put on some great tunes and create a huge play area. The centrepiece of the evening would be “The Floor is Lava.” Each climber would start on the very bottom row of holds and move laterally throughout the entire room. If you touch the mat with your foot (or even brush it), you’re out. Total chaos! For more details on Birthday Party Gloucester ideas, visit //www.270climbing.com/group-activities/parties/
After that, you could play “Add-A-Move.” One person would perform a ridiculous move; the next person would have to mimic that move and add another silly one. This game levels the playing field for everyone. Even your friend who climbs three days per week will be one of the first people eliminated from the game because they are laughing so hard they won’t be able to stop themselves from falling off the hold. Apparently attempting to bridge a corner while laughing uncontrollably is physically impossible.
At the conclusion of the evening, everyone is slumped over on the mats, completely worn out. But they are worn out because they were having so much fun playing and not because they ‘worked out.’
