Design and Drawing Review
The process starts with the drawings or brief for your fabrication. The design is checked for dimensions, for tolerances and for the loads that will be placed upon it prior to any cutting. It’s also a good time to check for issues with the fit, for the fixings required and for access for installation.
Material Selection and Cutting
For custom steel fabrication the material selected for steel work will depend upon the loads placed upon it. Typical starting materials are steel plate, hollow sections and steel angle. They are cut using plasma, laser or bandsaw cutters dependent upon the section to be cut and its thickness.
Welding and Forming
Once the components have been cut they are assembled, welded in accordance with a specified welding procedure. Depending on the design some components may require bending or pressing to form the required shape.
Surface Finishing
Many fabrication items are supplied after shot blasting and priming, or can be galvanized using the hot-dip process, or alternatively powder coated to provide a suitable finish to be exposed to the elements.
Quality Checking Before Delivery
