Building styles of the past

In our modern world, we have managed to refine the building of houses to a swift and efficient process.  modern machines and buildings have meant that the ability to create a new housing estate in less than five years is a reality.  This has meant that affordable housing can be put up quickly and also means that people don’t have to wait so long to move into a new building from their old property. Building Companies Bristol based companies like https://www.mogfordprescott.co.uk/builders-bristol/ can also provide additions and bespoke options to new properties.  this was not always the case in the past building a home would take some time as these styles show.

  1. Wattle and Daub. This style comes from the late medieval Tudor period.  It uses a combination of wood straw mud and limestone wash.  The frame of the building is from solid oak and in between these gaps is a mixture of straw mud and even manure which sets hard. This is then painted with the white limestone wash to create a vivid Style.

2. Brick.  Brick-built houses were a feature of the Industrial Revolution.  The creation of brick was one of the many Industries that grew out of the time.  Brick combined with cement is still popular as it creates a solid warm home.

3. Block and render. Starting in the 1950s onwards the use of solid concrete breeze blocks with a decorative outer render remains a popular choice even to this day.
