How to craft a carrot on a stick?

The crafting system in Minecraft can be pretty confusing, but a carrot on a stick is one of the easier things to make. In this guide, I’ll show you how to craft a carrot on a stick and give you some tips for other items you might want to try making too.

How to craft a carrot on a stick?

The recipe for the carrot on a stick is 3 sticks and 1 carrot. To get to this recipe, you must first make some planks by placing a wood log in the crafting area. First place 2 logs, then place 2 more logs on top of that, then take two steps to your left (or right) and click your mouse to place a log, then choose another square to the left (or right) and place a log there. Click on one of the logs you just placed to change it from a “planks” item into a “stick” item. Repeat this process to make your second stick, then place the two sticks in the crafting area. Place a log on top of those to make some planks, and place three more logs on top of that (in any direction you choose). Now take one step to your left or right and create another plank block as you did for your sticks. Repeat this process until you have 5 plank blocks total. Then, take four steps to your left or right (so you are in the same place as when you made your sticks) and place your carrots in the crafting area.

Place two more planks on top of that stack of five (in any direction).

Now take one step to the side and place three more planks.

Take another step to the side and place two more planks on top of that stack of five (in any direction).

Finally, take one last step to the side and place your logs in the crafting area. Change them into sticks by clicking on one of the logs, then place two more logs on top of that stack of five (in any direction).

You should now have your full stack of planks. You can break this down into sticks and carrots by placing the stack in the crafting area and breaking it down piece by piece, taking off one plank at a time until you’re left with just sticks and carrots. Or you can take all eight blocks of planks and place them in the crafting area, click on one of the planks to break off a single plank, then take that plank and turn it into a stick, then take that stick and turn it back into a plank.

Again, this recipe will create only three carrots and three sticks. To get more of each, you simply need to make another carrot on a stick by repeating this pattern.

Where do I get sticks, wood, planks and carrots?

Sticks can be found in the tall grass anywhere there is dirt or grass. If you want an endless supply of sticks you’ll need to find a patch of dirt that is next to another block (so wood log blocks can be placed next to the dirt). Then you’ll need to create a 2×2 area of dirt, one block away from all four edges. This will cause the grass to generate inside that 2×2 space. To get XP quickly, use bonemeal on this grass and it will turn into flowers very quickly. You can then get sticks by breaking the flowers or waiting for them to randomly break. You can also get wood by breaking tree trunks (not the leaves, only the trunks). Wood logs will drop sticks when broken (except in Creative mode where they won’t drop anything).
